Recent National Weather Service guidance and model consensus point to a moderating marine layer and onshore southwest flow as the dominant factors capping highs near the Los Angeles coast on September 17. Persistent low clouds and patchy drizzle through the morning of the 16th have delayed full clearing, keeping afternoon temperatures in the mid-70s at primary reporting stations such as LAX. Ensemble forecasts show limited warming potential under continued westerly winds of 10–15 mph, aligning with historical mid-September normals around 76 °F. Trader positioning in the 74–77 °F bins reflects this consensus, with only modest probability assigned to 78 °F or higher if stronger offshore flow develops overnight. Updated NWS briefings and final observations tomorrow will determine resolution.
