Persistent subtropical ridging over the southeastern U.S. is sustaining above-normal temperatures across North Texas, with south-southeast winds around 5 mph, mostly sunny skies, and minimal moisture limiting afternoon cooling for September 17. Official NWS guidance and ensemble models indicate a high near 99–101°F, consistent with recent observations showing daily maxima 8–12°F above September climatology under similar ridge patterns. Heat indices may reach 105–106°F, though the official maximum depends on exact station readings and any late-day cloud increases. Trader consensus heavily favors the 98–99°F bin as the most probable outcome given model agreement and historical analogs for late-summer heat in the region, with limited upside risk from forecast revisions before resolution.
