Persistent warm air advection from the south and mostly clear skies under a strong high-pressure ridge are keeping overnight temperatures elevated across Dallas, with official National Weather Service forecasts calling for a low near 80°F. This setup limits radiational cooling, as dew points in the upper 60s sustain high humidity and prevent sharper drops, while light southeast winds further moderate the minimum. Traders’ near-even odds between the 78–83°F bins reflect minor model spread in boundary-layer mixing and exact wind speeds overnight; a slightly stronger breeze or brief cloud cover could trim the low into the upper 70s, while calmer conditions would favor the low 80s. Historical September averages near 70°F underscore how unusual the current heat dome remains.
