Recent National Weather Service forecasts indicate a high near 75°F for Chicago on September 17 under mostly cloudy skies with a 40% chance of showers, particularly in the morning, as a moist northeast flow limits solar heating and promotes afternoon convection. Model consensus supports mid-70s readings, consistent with seasonal averages around 76°F, though persistent cloud cover and light northerly winds could cap peaks in the low-to-mid 70s if precipitation arrives earlier or more extensively. Trader sentiment clusters tightly on 72–77°F bins because small shifts in timing of cloud breaks or shower intensity—key variables in short-range guidance—directly influence maximum temperature resolution, with drier breaks favoring the upper end of that range.
