National Weather Service forecasts call for mostly sunny skies and a high near 79°F in New York City today, driven by light southwesterly winds, high pressure, and minimal cloud cover that limits afternoon mixing and allows efficient surface heating. Model consensus and recent observations align with this range, placing the 78-79°F bin as the clear market leader at 65% implied probability while the modest 23.5% on 80-81°F reflects slight upside potential from localized urban heat or minor forecast revisions. Historical September climatology for Central Park shows similar mild late-summer days averaging in the mid-70s, reinforcing trader focus on the narrow 78-81°F window ahead of tonight’s cooling.
