Persistent warm, humid air and extensive cloud cover over Chicago are limiting overnight radiative cooling on September 16, supporting National Weather Service forecasts of a minimum near 68°F amid northeast winds of 5–10 mph. This setup favors the market's leading 66–67°F bin over sharper drops, as high dew points near 64°F and low-level moisture suppress temperature falls. Traders remain nearly evenly split with the sub-57°F outcome because model guidance shows modest sensitivity to any late clearing or wind shifts that could allow brief radiational cooling toward historical September averages around 58°F. Upcoming hourly observations from Chicago O'Hare will clarify whether mixing persists through dawn.
