Lula maintains a commanding lead in Piauí polling for the 2026 first-round presidential vote, with recent Datafolha and AtlasIntel surveys showing him at 60-64% against single-digit or low-teen support for rivals such as Flávio Bolsonaro. This positioning reflects the state’s consistent electoral patterns, including Lula’s 74% share there in the 2022 first round and the presence of a popular PT state governor. Traders price the outcome at 96.8% for Lula, treating it as the consensus view of his regional base. Late-campaign developments that could narrow the gap include national economic shifts, turnout changes among key voting blocs, or unexpected momentum for opposition candidates, though current evidence points to structural advantages for the incumbent.
