This market will resolve to "Yes" if there have been the specified amount or more confirmed cases of Measles (Rubeola) in humans in the territory of the United States of America in 2026, according to the CDC case counter by September 30, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". The resolution source for this market will be the CDC Measles (Rubeola) counter 'Total Cases' in 2026 (see: https://www.cdc.gov/measles/data-research/index.html) at the resolution time. If the counter becomes unavailable, another credible source will be used. Note: Only cases reported by the CDC Measles (Rubeola) counter will qualify, regardless of reports from U.S. State agencies or other sources. The accelerating 2026 U.S. measles outbreak, with 2,777 confirmed cases reported by the CDC as of August 20—already exceeding the full-year 2025 total of 2,289—drives trader focus on cumulative counts through September 30. Recent weekly additions have doubled to 211 cases amid 36 ongoing outbreaks, 94% of which are linked to sustained transmission in under-vaccinated communities, primarily children and teens. Official surveillance shows 93% of cases in unvaccinated individuals, consistent with measles' high basic reproduction number and potential for rapid spread in low-immunity clusters. CDC data releases each Thursday, alongside state-level reporting, will provide key updates on new infections and outbreak containment before the market resolution window closes, with historical precedent showing possible late-summer increases tied to travel and school-related mixing.
