Lula maintains a commanding lead in Rio Grande do Norte for first place in the 2026 presidential election's opening round, reflecting the Northeast state's longstanding pattern of strong support for the incumbent Workers' Party candidate. Recent state-level polling, including Atlas surveys from May and July 2026, shows Lula ahead by roughly 29 points over Flávio Bolsonaro in first-round simulations, consistent with his 63% first-round share in the 2022 contest there. Broader regional Datafolha and BTG/Nexus data confirm Lula's dominance across the Northeast, driven by approval of his administration and limited inroads by opposition figures. The market's pricing captures this entrenched regional dynamic, though late shifts in turnout, candidate consolidation among rivals, or unexpected national events could still narrow the gap before October 2026.
