The Brazilian Federal Senate election for Rio Grande do Norte is scheduled to take place on October 4, 2026. This market will resolve according to the candidate who wins the second-most valid votes of any candidate at the specified election. Candidates will be primarily ranked by order of valid votes won. If two or more candidates are tied for any position, ties will be broken by alphabetical order of the candidates’ listed full names as they appear in this market. This market will resolve to the candidate that occupies the second-highest finishing position after applying this ranking. If the result of this election isn't definitively known by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on the result of the election, as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the Brazilian government, specifically the Superior Electoral Court (Tribunal Superior Eleitoral, TSE) (e.g., www.tse.jus.br/eleicoes/resultados-eleicoes).**The Rio Grande do Norte Senate race for the second seat remains highly competitive because multiple candidates draw comparable support in consolidated first- and second-preference polling, with Styvenson Valentim (Podemos) usually leading overall while Zenaide Maia (PSD), Samanda Alves (PT), Rafael Motta (PDT), and Coronel Hélio (PL) cluster closely behind.** Recent July 2026 AtlasIntel data showed Valentim at 21.4% in summed votes, followed by Alves (18.2%), Hélio (15.3%), Motta (14.4%), and Maia (11.2%), with large shares of undecided or blank ballots. Earlier Exatus and Agorasei surveys similarly placed Maia or Alves in contention for second while revealing fluid second-preference flows. Voters select two senators, so positioning depends on how preferences split between first and second choices, party coalitions, and turnout patterns across regions. High indecision and the official campaign period (opened mid-August) have kept probabilities balanced, reflected in trader pricing that assigns Maia the clearest edge for second place while leaving room for others. Further separation could occur from stronger TV/radio exposure, coalition endorsements, or shifts tied to the concurrent gubernatorial contest before the October vote.
