This market will resolve to "Yes" if there is a confirmed case of Ebola in the territory of the specified country reported between market creation and December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". Any active laboratory-confirmed, or otherwise officially confirmed, Ebola infection identified within the territory of the specified country will qualify, regardless of where exposure, symptom onset, or testing occurred. The primary resolution sources for this market will be official information from the relevant national and international health authorities; however, an overwhelming consensus of credible reporting will also suffice. The massive ongoing Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, declared in May 2026 but likely spreading since February, dominates trader focus for 2026 case markets. It has already produced thousands of confirmed infections and deaths across six provinces, fueled by high population mobility through mining areas and conflict zones, limited contact tracing, and the absence of approved vaccines or treatments tailored to this strain. Imported cases have surfaced in Uganda (20 total, outbreak declared over by late July) and France (one), with treatment links to Germany, underscoring cross-border risks to neighbors like South Sudan. Rapid case growth and incomplete detection mean new reports from additional countries remain possible before year-end, though response efforts and surveillance upgrades could limit further spread.
